Twenty Sixth Time’s the Charm
Clearly I wasn’t paying enough attention when taking photos of Sadie after her grooming visit this weekend. It was hot and sunny, the ground was full of sharp, pointy rocks, there were bees, excuses, excuses. Honestly I was just being impatient and trying to snap a quick photo. But as usual, if I try to do something quickly, it just takes longer to correct all of my mistakes in the end. It took me over twenty five tries before I finally positioned myself, the camera, and Sadie correctly to get the above photo. Here are six of my first attempts, which I find funny because they are so bad, followed by two photos that actually turned out pretty well.

Walks Before Photos
Last holiday season I shared with you my favorite tips for taking a great photo of your pets. (Click here to see all of those tips.) Today I’d like to focus on one tip in particular: walk your dogs before taking your photos. As I mentioned before, walking your dog before a photo session has a number of benefits. You can work out your dog’s excess energy, making him or her more cooperative when sitting still for a photo. Also, your dog enjoys going for a walk, and your dog’s happy mood when you get home usually shows through in your photos. Sadie and I had a photo shoot last month that is a perfect example of the difference between taking photos before and after a walk.
Earth – #52Snapshots
Today’s #52Snapshots of Life theme is Earth. Protecting our planet and the environment is a very important cause that is the central focus of two holidays this week, Earth Day and Arbor Day. Sadie and I celebrated Earth Day on Wednesday by enjoying some outdoor time. All our Spring flowers are in bloom and all the trees are starting to come to life again. It’s a great time of year to enjoy the beauty of nature. Unfortunately it’s also the time of year when breathing in all that nature causes sneezing fits and sinus headaches. So once Sadie had her fill of nature this Earth Day, we decided to celebrate the planet indoors. I blew up my inflatable Earth beach ball, and Sadie and I knocked the ball around in the comfort of my mostly allergen-free home.
