Bubble Attack!

The weather is starting to get chilly around here, so I thought it was time to put away some of our warm weather toys. Before putting Sadie’s bubble machine into storage, I wanted to use up any of the special bacon-flavored doggie bubble solution left inside. So I turned on the machine, the bubbles started flying, and Sadie ran to the far side of the deck. Normally she enjoys the bubbles, but I guess this time she thought those mischievous bubbles were trying to attack her. After a minute or two of observing the bubbles in action, Sadie cautiously approached the area, keeping just out of the bubbles’ reach. And that’s when she got a whiff of bacon. She looked around trying to figure out where the delicious smell was coming from, but she couldn’t find the source. While distracted by the smell, one mischievous bubble made it onto Sadie’s nose and popped. That’s when she realized it was the bubbles that smelled like bacon.  Those sneaky little bubbles lured her in with the smell, but unfortunately for Sadie, the bubbles definitely did not taste like bacon.

Black and White Sunday #29

Last week Sadie and I took a walk through another new park. We pass this park all the time, but we’ve never gone inside because it contains mostly sports fields that are always crowded. But for some reason the park was completely empty that day, so we took the opportunity for Sadie to have a sniff around. There were no exciting discoveries like last week’s waterfall, but Sadie still enjoyed all the new smells. She was especially curious about the bleachers, although she was too nervous to jump onto them herself. Continue reading

Sepia Saturday #19

Here is Sadie getting ready to climb her doggy stairs up to my bed. We’ve had these stairs in place for over a year now, but Sadie still needs to gather her courage before she uses them almost every time. She usually hesitates too much and has a couple of false starts before she gains the momentum to attempt the stairs. I’m pretty sure she just overthinks it and scares herself, because when she is really excited and her attention is focused on playing, you can throw her squeaky ball onto the bed and she runs right up the stairs without a second thought.

Black and White Sunday #25

Today I thought it was appropriate to share this picture of Sadie hanging out in her car seat, since she will be spending a lot of time there this week. Sadie and I have a four hour drive today, a four hour drive tomorrow, a four hour drive Friday, and the final four hour drive next Sunday. We’ve got some fun activities planned and some friends and family to visit, but it’s still quite a bit of time in the car. I’m just glad that Sadie is a pretty good road trip companion and is content to just nap and sit quietly in her car seat.

I Bet You Can’t Do This!

Do you remember that day as a kid when a friend or classmate realized most people can’t touch their tongue to their nose? And everyone spent hours trying to force their tongues to their noses to prove him or her wrong? Sadie makes it look so easy in this photo, but no matter how hard I tried as a child, my tongue was never long enough. It makes me smile when I see this picture and remember silly childhood days like that.
