Although this weekend has been something of a reprieve from the cold weather around here, I know this mildness won’t last. So I spent some time getting ready for the cold. I’ve now got my winter coat and Sadie’s winter harness and jacket hanging by the door. My short sleeve shirts have been moved to the upper, hard to reach rack in the closet. And my fuzzy socks and slippers have come out of storage.
I know many people wear slippers around the house year-round, but I usually prefer to be barefoot when I can. But Sadie rejoices at this time of year when I finally give in to the cold weather and break out the slippers. It doesn’t truly feel like winter is coming until I’ve got a Yorkipoo chasing me around the house trying to steal my slippers. Of course I remind Sadie every year that my slippers are not toys, but at least once a week she “forgets” and attacks my feet until I give her a slipper. Then she celebrates her victory by shaking the slipper around in her mouth a few times. Once she’s satisfied that the slipper has learned its lesson, she gives it back to me. It makes me wonder if Sadie thinks she is protecting me from my misbehaving footwear. If so, I appreciate her good intentions, but I’m pretty sure she’s causing more mischief with the slippers than she’s preventing.

LOL. I only wear slippers in the winter, too, and they’re quite fuzzy. Once in awhile one will disappear and I know one of the dogs has decided it’s a toy 🙂 (Thankfully, they only carry them around and don’t chew on them.)

At least she doesn’t chew it up / shred it. I think Ginger dog would do that if she ever captured a slipper!

I’ve been known to take my Human’s slippers on tour and shake them, but it’s before I shove them into bed with her to get her going in the morning! Once she’s up and about, I sure don’t want to slow down the routine which starts with an outing for me!

I’m not sure what to call our weather. Today it was 70 degrees, and Wednesday we’re getting hit with a wintery mix – I’m so confused, but while Sadie runs around with your slipper, Harley is off somewhere hiding my sock. Don’t you just love our lifestyle? LOL
