This pair of photos really highlights the difference between the way Sadie looked as a puppy and the way she looks now. In Sadie’s First Haircut I talked about my shock at her drastic change of coloring after her first haircut. Here you can really see how her puppy fur came more from her Yorkie roots, with the traditional black and tan coloring. Today she has mainly Poodle hair that is almost an ashy blonde color. Have you ever noticed that puppies seem to fall asleep in the strangest positions? For this week’s Flashback Friday, I go back to one particular night, a week after I brought Sadie home, when I watched Sadie sleep with my camera poised. Every time she moved I needed a picture, because each position was cuter and more uncomfortable looking than the last. I think she changed positions over ten times during the course of that hour. But all that moving around never actually woke her up.

This flashback photo comes from Sadie’s second day as a member of my family. You may recognize the more recent photo as our standard profile picture from various social media. It seems that right from the beginning Sadie has realized the advantage of this pose. She can lay down and be nice and comfy with a soft place to rest her chin, but still have full range of motion with her head so she doesn’t miss any action going on around her. Continue reading

This week’s Flashback Friday picture comes from Sadie’s first day at my office. I had a pink puppy playpen setup for her with all kinds of new toys in it to keep her busy. As I write this post while I’m at work, Sadie is sleeping under my desk. She’s so well behaved now that we don’t need the playpen and the distractions to keep her busy.
