Here’s my little puppy Sadie with her very first tennis ball. I remember shopping for everything I’d need to bring home my new puppy and I was so excited to stumble across this package of little pink tennis balls. They were definitely a must have for my new little princess. And in the beginning it was very fun and exciting, just like I’d imagined. I’d throw the ball and my new little puppy would zoom off after it and bring it back somewhere near my general area. It was a wonderful way to bond with my new pup.

The Harness Dress – Flashback Friday #11

Here’s my little pup wearing her first harness dress. I absolutely love harness dresses! Since Sadie is a small dog with a delicate neck, attaching a leash directly to her collar isn’t safe for her. That means Sadie needs to wear a harness to attach a leash to. While there are many utilitarian harnesses with just the necessary straps to keep the dog in and the leash attached, I prefer something more stylish for my Sadie. That’s when I discovered harness dresses. They usually attach around the dog’s stomach and neck with Velcro or buckles (not meant for powerful pullers) and have a d-ring on the back for attaching a leash. Most importantly, they look adorable. And for those of you who feel guilty making their dogs wear clothing, the harness dress is a perfect compromise. Your small dog needs to wear some type of harness, so it might as well be in the form of an adorable dress.

In this flashback photo my adorable puppy Sadie was examining a new dog bed I had just bought for her. After I took this picture she hopped off the bed and ignored it completely for months. Separation Anxiety – Flashback Friday #8

Like most dogs, Sadie hates being alone. In this flashback photo my sleepy puppy Sadie and I are literally joined at the hip (as I write this Sadie is once again curled up against my hip, fast asleep). We are very lucky to be able to stay together most of the time, as Sadie comes to work with me everyday. But there are times when she must be in the house alone. And to her it doesn’t matter if it’s five minutes or five hours, any time alone is far too long.
