Sadie’s DIY Leaf Necklace

Sadie and I were hanging out on the deck this weekend, enjoying the brisk Fall air and the colorful leaves. Quite a few of the beautiful leaves found their way onto our deck and I thought it would be a shame just to throw away something so pretty. That’s when I decided to make Sadie a Fall leaf necklace. I collected some of the prettiest leaves that had long stems. Then I tied the stems onto Sadie’s collar. Sadie seemed to enjoy looking pretty in her fancy necklace. But eventually my knots came undone in the wind and pieces of Sadie’s necklace scattered in all directions. It was a beautifully festive fashion accessory while it lasted.

Socks Weather

It’s officially that time of year here in NJ when the sandals must be put away and the socks come out to stay. Sadie is pretty happy about this change in the weather, as you can see by the big grin on her face. She doesn’t actually enjoy wearing socks herself, although she humors me by keeping them on for a while. Sadie is actually smiling about the perfectly comfortable Fall temperatures. Since she’s always wearing a fur coat, it’s way too hot in Summer. But Sadie is a little sensitive to the cold and doesn’t like Winter temperatures too much either. So Fall is the best time of year for Sadie. While I’m mourning the loss of my sandals and grumbling about putting on socks all the time, Sadie is loving nature.

Orange Is the New Pink

As you all know, pink is Sadie’s favorite color. Yes, it’s my favorite color as well, but if you remember my post A Preference For Pink, Sadie clearly demonstrated that she likes pink herself. Anyway, like most people, Sadie has days where she just feels like trying something different. So on this particular day, Sadie decided that orange was the color of the day. Since it’s a great color for this time of year, I decided to indulge Sadie’s orange whim. She wore an orange dress, an orange collar, played with an orange ball, ate orange treats, and only posed for photos in front of orange backgrounds. This may sound silly, a dog choosing a specific color for the day, but you can see what I mean in the following photos. Sadie and I thoroughly enjoyed our orange day and I’m thinking we may try another color day sometime soon.
