Oh no! Sadie’s been swallowed whole by a shark! Wait a minute… is that shark pink?? And fluffy?? That’s right, Sadie is the proud owner of a dog house/dog bed in the shape of an adorably mean pink shark! It’s the perfect way to celebrate all the toothy fun of Shark Week!

Today is the first official day of Summer! To celebrate the day Sadie has dug up her ice cream cone squeaky toy. I’m guessing that’s her not so subtle hint that the time of year has come to start buying her doggie ice cream. I think I’ll be saving the ice cream for special occasions, but to mark the beginning of Summer there may be a homemade pupsicle or two in Sadie’s near future.
Sadie is ready to celebrate Cinco de Mayo today! And this year Sadie’s celebration will be a bit more authentic, because I brought back a few presents for Sadie from a trip I took to Mexico last year. Personally I love souvenir shopping and it’s really exciting when I can find souvenirs appropriate for my dog. But the presents I brought back from Mexico for Sadie were more meaningful than just any old souvenirs. These particular items came from Humane Society in Mexico, so every tiny sombrero and colorful dog poncho purchased benefits shelter animals throughout Mexico. It’s the best way to shop – fun presents for my dog that help a good cause!

Today is National Cupcake Day in Canada. Even though Sadie and I are in the United States, we thought Canada’s National Cupcake Day was important enough to celebrate regardless of borders. First, who doesn’t love a good cupcake (or pupcake for our four-legged friends)? And second, National Cupcake Day was created as a fundraiser for the SPCAs and Humane Societies throughout Canada. All over the country, groups and individuals are hosting cupcake sales to benefit their local animal shelters. No matter which country you’re from, it’s always a great idea to help support those wonderful organizations and help animals in need. So grab a cupcake today and make your own donation to support your local shelter.
