I still haven’t had time to get Sadie to her groomer yet, so she has been seeing a lot of her comb recently. Just like with human hair, the longer her hair gets, the more knotted it becomes. And long, furry ears are not a good mix with wet dog food. I must have brushed her at least ten times over the last few days to get all the food and knots out. But luckily Sadie has grown to tolerate and even sometimes enjoy getting combed.

Sadie got a new haircut this week, and for once, she was pretty happy about it. As usual she was nervous during the car ride to the groomer, and tried to hide in the car instead of being taken inside. But once she was finished and I went to pick her up, she was thrilled. Continue reading

So Sadie finally went to the groomer. I like to call it her “Spa Day” in an effort to make it sound nice and relaxing. She gets to sit back and have her hair and nails done. What girl wouldn’t love a day like that? Unfortunately Sadie finds her Spa Days the complete opposite of relaxing. Continue reading

So Sadie is my first puppy, my very first dog ever. I did my research on breeds and training and everything and was mostly prepared when I brought her home. She was a tiny black little fur-ball and I instantly loved her. When I took her to the vet for the first time, the vet said she had a minor skin condition caused by interaction with chickens on the farm where she was born. We were able to clear up her skin pretty quickly, but doing so gave my little girl a bad case of dandruff. I brushed her multiple times a day, but her black fur remained stubbornly full of white flakes. I couldn’t wait until she could go to the groomer and all the flaky fur could be trimmed away. Sadie is due to be groomed next week, and after making her appointment, I decided to look at the pictures I took after her last grooming. Something about this picture makes my beautiful little girl look like a boy. It’s the same haircut the groomer always gives her. She’s worn plenty of bandanas before without looking like a boy. But somehow the combination of everything in this photo turns Sadie into a tomboy. Continue reading
