Easter Paparazzi

Sadie had a wonderful Easter weekend! The Easter Bunny brought her some new toys, she wore her pretty Easter dress and bunny ears, and she had a very successful Easter egg hunt involving lots of yummy chicken. Of course all of these activities led to lots of pictures being taken. By Sunday afternoon, Sadie was exhausted and decided to take a nap on the couch. Since I took her dress off and put away the camera, Sadie thought she was finally safe from the paparazzi and fell right to sleep. I began making dinner and wasn’t paying much attention to my sleepy pup. At one point I glanced at the couch and thought she looked so adorable sleeping that I had to go get the camera. I got a few pictures taken before Sadie noticed I was there. Then Sadie opened her eyes and I could practically hear her rolling her eyes, saying “Oh no, not the paparazzi again.” But Sadie was just too tired to find a new, paparazzi free place to nap. So Sadie found her own solution – she buried her face behind the pillow so she could sleep without being disturbed by the camera!

Music – #52Snapshots

Today I am joining The Lazy Pitbull’s 52 Snapshots of Life photo challenge. Each week there is a one word theme to use as inspiration for taking some new photographs. This week, which is the 2nd week of the challenge, is about music.

I don’t know about other dogs, but Sadie is not at all interested in music.

I turn on the radio or MP3 player and Sadie couldn’t care less.

She doesn’t even look up when the cell phones or landlines are playing their songs.

Music from the TV or computer is totally uninteresting to Sadie.

Sadie does pay attention when the doorbell starts making music, but she sees that as part of her doggie job description.

There is only one sound that is actually music to Sadie’s ears…

…the squeaking of her beloved little squeaky basketball.

Sadie’s First Airplane Ride!

Last week Sadie joined me on a very exciting adventure – her first airplane ride! It’s only a 2 hour flight from here to Florida, so I thought this would be a good first flight for Sadie to take. We flew on JetBlue, so Sadie was able to ride with me as my carry-on bag. I just had to make sure that she was in a soft-sided carrier that met the airline under-seat requirements, which I’ve heard are a little stricter than other airlines. I also brought along Sadie’s vaccination records and a certificate of good health from her vet just in case someone at the airport or hotels asked to see them (no one asked, but better safe than sorry).

Sadie Bug!

Yesterday was bath day for my Sadie. Usually while I’m getting everything ready for her bath, like bringing her towels into the bathroom, Sadie realizes what I’m planning to do and tries to run and hide to avoid the bath. This time she was outside while I got her bath all ready, so I thought it would be easy to just bring her in and go straight to the bath. I did not count on the shampoo smell. Apparently even handling her shampoo bottle transfers the smell onto my hands. One whiff of that scent and Sadie refused to come back in the house. She barricaded herself under a deck chair and would not move. I had to pick up the chair to get her out. After that the bath went fine; no more escape attempts. And then we got to use Sadie’s new ladybug hooded towel, which is absolutely adorable! Sadie didn’t even mind the hood, as it was keeping her wet ears nice and warm. After I was finished taking pictures, she just snuggled up on the couch in her towel and fell asleep.

Keep Those Ears Warm!

It was below freezing again here yesterday. This constant back and forth of the weather is driving Sadie and I crazy. One day I can take her out for a long walk without a jacket, and the next day we’re back to huddling against the cold in our winter jackets. I had to go back into the storage bin for some of those fuzzy socks Sadie helped me put away during Spring cleaning last weekend.

What made yesterday particularly brutal was the bone-chilling wind. Sadie doesn’t like the cold too much, but only freezing wind can really stop her from having fun outside. Continue reading →
