Sadie has taken her picky eating to a new level. Last night I heard her whining from the living room, so I went to investigate. I found her sitting next to her full dog bowl, whining at me. She would look at her bowl and then look at me. She clearly seemed hungry, but would not eat the food in her bowl. I though maybe she wanted some other type of food or fresher food, so I refilled her bowl with new food. She continued to look back and forth between me and the bowl. So I handed her a piece of food from the bowl and she happily ate it. Then I took a handful of food and put it on the floor in front of her. She sniffed it then sat back down and resumed staring at me. So I took one of the pieces off of the floor and fed it to her. Once again Sadie happily ate it. Apparently Sadie now expects me to hand feed her! Is eating out of the bowl really too much trouble?

  1. Never had that problem with Katy. In fact she eats from a muffin tin to slow her eating time. However, what you described happens with Bailey on and off, especially during the summer months. DH and I end up trading off hand feeding him and distracting Katy who will gladly eat Bailey’s portion if he isn’t interested.

Sometimes we put it up and find he’s hungier when we make him wait.
