Today Sadie and I join Ruckus the Eskie‘s Sepia Saturday blog hop with a short message about kitchen safety. The kitchen is always an enticing place for your pet with yummy smells and family members in and out all the time. But the kitchen can also be a dangerous place for any animal. As with children, the stove poses a threat to animals. They could burn themselves on the oven, or stovetop if they can reach that high, or something hot could fall onto pets if they are too close. Many pets can also jump onto or reach the countertop, where you may have potentially hazardous items or foods. So remember to keep your counters pet safe and store harmful items where there’s no chance your pets could reach them. Also if your pet gets under your feet in the kitchen, you could trip while holding something hot or sharp and injure yourself or your pet. That is why in our kitchen Sadie has a specific spot where she knows she can sit and safely watch me prepare food. It’s out of range of the stove and keeps a path open for me to work around the kitchen without worrying if I might trip over her.

In the above photo Sadie is modeling the new kitchen cabinets and countertop that were installed during our recent home renovation.
